Are you watching Alcaraz in Madrid on his 19th birthday?
Go kid!

(1,229 posts)This kid is extremely talented and gifted. He has so many weapons that players who have been on the ATP tour for years do not and will not have. His footspeed, mechanics and match play instincts are off the chart. He is very legit.

(297,554 posts)Indian Wells this year it was Rafa 6-4; 4-6; 6-3:
Rafa had a tough three setter today,
Tomorrow will be interesting.
Great win - now for Rafa😀😀

(14,792 posts)and it's only going to get better when he fills out a bit. He just slaps the shit out of the ball and hits winners from anywhere on the court.
malaise
(297,554 posts)Haha -PHEW!
tishaLA
(14,792 posts)One of the things I like best about him is that he has such a complete all court game, so he doesn't just hang out on the baseline and he has remarkable touch, especially for someone so young. I remember when Andy Murray was just coming up through the ranks and liked to hit drop shots at really dumb times. He was eventually coached out of it, but Alcaraz has already, at such a young age, figured out all the right times.

(297,554 posts)Happy Birthday kid

(1,229 posts)His game is at such a high level already and as he matures, watch out. He has every shot in his arsenal and his mental game and instincts give him a very high ceiling that he hasn't come close to reaching yet. The match between he and Rafa will be incredibly entertaining. I still would favor Rafa because he is such an incredible fighter who will give his all against the youngster but Alcaraz is in the rear view mirror and closing quickly. Can't wait to see what Alcaraz will do at Wimbledon and the US Open...

(14,792 posts)and now I'm back midway through the second set incredulous about where we are. I thought he'd finish out the match then take a couple weeks off to allow his ankle to heal.

(14,792 posts)was remarkable. He was so ballsy, going for it all on every point. Even on the two crap points, they were crap because he was so intent on being unafraid.
Just beautiful. Serve and volley on the first point? The drop shot? My god.
malaise
(297,554 posts)😀
1st set to Novax
This kid can play
tishaLA
(14,792 posts)At 4-4 deuce?! Against Djoker? And then the next deuce he hits that huge swinging volley? What even is this kid?

(14,792 posts)I almost felt bad for Zverev and he is far from my favorite player. Courier said Carlos might be #1 by the end of the year....I'd guess that's a bit early, but by next year I can totally see it. He's phenomenal
