Tim Tebow Traded to the NY Jets

Link has been added.

--On Edit--

Unusually quiet in recent weeks, the New York Jets shattered the calm Wednesday by completing a trade for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow, the team confirmed.

The Jets will send a fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos, a source said.

The fans will want to run Sanchez out the door. Why would the Jets do that to themselves?

fans are going to get all religious-y and start screaming "TEBOW" any time soon. I think they will use him situationally, but what a mess that will be.

of his foot fetish.

That makes more sense than thinking they'll actually use him.

ESPN has just tweeted that there is language in Tebow's contract that MIGHT void the trade.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that a hangup in the language of Tebow's contract could nullify the trade and that if the swap is voided, the Rams -- who reportedly had expressed interest -- could get back into the Tebow sweepstakes.

According to Schefter, "Tebow has $5 million worth of recapture language, meaning Jets would have to pay back money to Denver." The Jets, Schefter writes, might be unwilling to do that.

Apparently, the Jets and Broncos are still wanting to complete the trade, but for now, there are plenty of complications.

Which automatically led nearly everybody on Twitter to make some variation of these two jokes: 1) it must have been the 3.16 clause in his contract that forbade him for playing in a city of sin or 2) jeez, Tebow can't complete ANYTHING!"

Jets' management looked closer at Tebow's contract after agreeing to the deal. The contract says any team acquiring Tebow has to kick back more than $5 million to the Broncos in advanced salaries from the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons, according to an NFL source.

Tebow received $6.277 million in salary advance during the 2011 season. The breakdown of that advance: $1,213,750 in 2011 (the Broncos paid); $1,425,000 in 2012; $1,691,250 in 2013; and $1.92 million in 2014.

The Broncos expect the Jets to pay them back those salary advances from 2012-14 per Tebow's contract. The Jets are balking. This deal may die.
