Dangerously cold at kickoff for Armed Forces Bowl. Fans allowed to bring blankets

Temperatures in the teens and a brutal north wind will combine for dangerous conditions at Thursday’s Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The temperature is expected to be 18 when Baylor (6-6) and Air Force (9-3) kick off at 6:30 p.m. Wind chills will be as low as minus-15 after a cold front barrels through North Texas Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The pregame concert and Fan Fest and Veterans Village activities have been canceled. Organizers also said they will not be unfurling the field-sized flag before the game because of the high winds.

The wind chills could result in hypothermia, the National Weather Service said. Dress in warm, lightweight layers and cover exposed skin.
