Bought A New Driver Today

Full story: August of '21, I'm playing after the rain. On the back 9, I did something weird and my back foot slipped. (I don't wear golf shoes.) Because the back foot is going backwards while everything is turning left & forward, I was so off balance I started falling down. Reflexes kick in & I pull the club back to try to catch myself. Sole of the club hits the ground, SNAP! Shaft broked about 8" up.
OK, I'll get it restarted. But, this model has a 0.350" shaft at the head & NOBODY makes that size anymore.
I get a Callaway Mavrik demo model to replace it. I hated it. Everything about it. Sounds like a brick on impact, sets up closed, don't like the 2 tone shaft. (I have a natural draw so I don't need slice reduction & I'm blind in my left eye, so 2 degrees closed looked like 30° to my eye.
I Buy a used Taylormade M-1 from a guy who spends way too much money on gear, for about the price of a good shaft. But, that driver is known to be quite unforgiving unless it's hit right on the button, and it feels head heavy.
Anyway, a little research tells me the Taylormade M-4 is the most like my old one, but it's their third tier.
$299 new, BUT, they gave me $100 bucks on that driver I hated. So, a couple hundred plus tax.
I could get a 0.350 shaft, but they were mostly high-end, so used they were $160-180.
Basically, I got a new driver for about 30 bucks more than repairing would cost, and I don't have to look at the driver I hate.
There's a heated range about 20 miles from here. I might go try it out this week.

Play it Again Sports.

I traded in oooold Kmart Dunlop’s and got Pings irons and driver $140 out of pocket it think.
Went from over 100’s to 80-90’s. Extremely forgiving.

No golf shoes? They are basically running shoes now. I made a pair of golf shoes out of old running shoes yeeeeeears ago.

Like Skechers or something similar.
Next time I'll just fall on one knee! Not like I was about to fall off a cliff.
I'm not an equipment guy generally. I'm still playing Mizuno irons I bought 16 years ago. I just put new grips on them, but because my palms don't sweat, my grips last a LONG time. The grips I replaced were the original ones.
I've been using the same putter for 12 years, and I only changed because I wanted to return to the sound of a metal face, instead of polymer.
I do have a bag that is only a year old. My old one was getting pretty ragged.

I don't slip very often. It was a wet day & I did something wrong on the downswing.
It wasn't the shoes, it was me.
Admittedly, if it was dry & I do that I don't fall because the slip would be way less.
But, it was the only time I slipped all day.
I don't develop the torque I used to, so I really don't need special shoes. I just have to not do something stupid while executing an otherwise good swing. I still shot 76 that day.
Besides, I haven't worn shoes with laces since I stopped playing basketball 29 years ago.
