a rookie Canadian playing an established player in the rookies homeland??? Crowd is soooooo behind their player, and Im just wondering how much it does get into the head of the opponent???

(36,352 posts)Canada is sooooooooo behind their player upstart, Victoria Mboko, and really shes good but playing against Rybaikna??? maybe not yet there. Shes so good but a rookie. U S Open is gonna be wild in the womens half.

Especially younger and inexperienced players who may need the boost.
Half of everything is psychology.

Then again she might get performance anxiety with the increased pressure.
Or may lose focus with all the noise.
And have a decreased performance.
This is why top notch athletes hire very expensive sports psychologists to sort it all out.
There are world class athletes who are the best in the world but can never win a gold medal.
Some athletes who are mediocre players but win all the time.
