I envision the Tide Rolling far. And Ive stopped drinking for awhile.

(10,493 posts)One of the ESPN hosts said "If the committee had Notre Dame 2 positions higher than Miami, this past Tuesday, and both teams didn't play this week, how did Miami jump over Notre Dame on Sunday?
Good question. Here is how.
Most if not all committee members are associated with one of the Power 5 conferences.
There is no independent committee member.
ND almost didn't make it to last years playoff, yet they made it to the championship game.
Some pundants are saying that Miami got in because they beat Notre Dame.
Apparently head-to -head didn't matter to the committee, instead they wanted an ACC team in the Playoffs
I believe they really didn't want Notre Dame in the Playoffs.
Because Virginia lost to Duke and there was no way Duke was playing in the playoff, they needed an ACC team, so enter Miami.
I believe Alabama should have never been considered with 3 losses and one of them was against 5-7 Florida State and Miami lost to 2 teams that didn't make the top 25, while Notre Dame's losses were against 2 top 12 teams and lost by a total of 4 points.
So they needed an ACC team and they need that 5th SEC team in the playoffs.
Screw the independent.
I'll bet Miami is going to lose big at Texas A&M
