DeLorean Alpha5 EV Previews the Return of the Infamous Sports Car

More than four decades after the original DMC DeLorean went on sale, a new iteration of the gullwing-door-equipped sports car is due to hit the scene. Dubbed the Alpha5, the reborn sports car keeps its forebear’s trick door design but ditches its blocky styling.

1. I always thought the gullwing doors were futuristic, but silly.

Wouldn't you love being parked next to some fool who doesn't gauge how much separation is needed to avoid those things smashing into the vehicle adjacent?

That said, it is a pretty car, IMO.

Gullwing doors take way less clearance to open compared to traditional doors, making them great for tight urban spaces. They'll let you load a kid into the car without hunching over.

They seemed to swing OUT before they swung UP.

2. I lived in Bedminster, N.J. ... So did DeLorean. 'cept he lived in the rich part of town.

Several times, I saw him in the local King's supermarket.

After he died, his farm was sold to some asshole. I haven't seen the new asshole in Kings. Something about the new assholes fingers being too small to grab stuff off the shelf.

My hatchback is on its 3rd set of struts. I gave up replacing them. But that thing slams.
