Let's Go Cubs: Avenge 1984!

Hoping the Cubs can beat the Padres in the Wildcard series! Beyond that, I don't have faith in this inconsistent offensive team.

I wouldn't mind a Seattle v. Milwaukee World Series. The Seattle Mariners are the only MLB team who have never been to the World Series and the Brewers have only been in 1; the 1982 heartbreaking loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in 7 games.

3. Yeah. Keep Lee Smith away from these games, too.

I also haven’t forgotten that he also blew 7 saves for Rick Sutcliffe in 1987 to cost him a second Cy Young.

Hall of Famer my ass.

5. In 1984, when the Padres scored their first run in the 5th game, I started crying because I knew it was all over.

That series was such a heartbreak for me.

I was working at a restaurant at the time and had a $10 bet with one of the regular customers that the Cubs would beat the Padres. After it was over, he told me I wouldn't have to pay him if I just said "Forgive me, So-and-So, for ever doubting Goose Gossage and the San Diego Padres." I just handed him the money without saying a word.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm hoping for a Cubs/Tigers World Series. If not the Cubs, then the Phillies (due to my undying love for Kyle Schwarber) and if not the Tigers, then the Guardians. I hold absolutely no animosity toward them at all and would like to see them win (just not against the Cubs). They've waited a long time too.

As for the Brewers, no, just no.

when the double play ball clanked off of Alex Gonzalez’s glove, I looked at my wife, said, “I’ve seen this movie before,” and walked out of the room.
