Not only is he pitching a gem, but he's hit 2 HR's, one of them out of the stadium.
This is why the LA Dodgers are going to win back to back World Series.

(43,094 posts)In Ruth's day (and for another 40 years) ball clubs each had one "trainer," who was little more than a clubhouse attendant ("clubbie" ). Now, evey club has a team of Certified Athletic Trainers, many with Master's degrees. They also all have gyms inside the clubhouse, along with batting cages that have slo-mo cameras so you can watch yourr swing frame-by-frame with a hiting coach alongside you. You can watch your swing from last night, or even your last at-bat, and look for any differences that might have put you into a slump. The same goes for pitchers and their throwing motions and even grips.
The Babe Ruth (or Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, etc etc, etc.) of today would be significantly improved compared to a century ago. That's one of the reasons it's folly to compare baseball across eras
