Brandon Belt Sets MLB record for 21-pitch at-bat.

snip:
San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt set a Major League Baseball record Sunday when he battled out a 21-pitch at-bat against Los Angeles Angels rookie right-hander Jaime Barria.

Belt fouled off 16 two-strike pitches before lining out to Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun. The at-bat lasted 12 minutes and 45 seconds. It was the most pitches in an at-bat since records began in 1988.

This is amazing.

They keep records of everything in baseball, don't they? Ohiogal Apr 2018 #1
Belt often goes deep in the pitch count. Ten, twelve, fourteen is common, but 21 is pretty wild Brother Buzz Apr 2018 #2

My buddy, Giants broadcaster Jon Miller, made note of the record when it happened. Miller and I both grew up listening to Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons broadcasting Giants games, and it's fair to say neither of them would have caught this record without having the computer at their fingertips.

including players from other teams. I imagine he practiced the more peculiar names with the players, both laughing, until he got it right.
