$36 million per year. Assuming he pitches in 36 games. 100 pitches per game.

I remember when Cole pitched for Pittsburgh and he was a relatively mediocre pitcher. He comes to Houston, they tinker with his delivery and pitch selection, and suddenly he's a runner-up for the Cy Young award, leading the league in strikeouts. Yeah, he thanked the fans in Houston for their support, but I didn't hear anything about how he turned his career around while in Houston, so much so that he will "earn" $36 million per year for 9 years.

Cole comes off to me as a rather ungrateful, greedy bastard. Frankly, I hope he fucks up his arm and can't pitch worth a shit.
