Lou Brock RIP

I grew up watching him run wild on the bases in St. Lous. Check out his statistics for the World Series. They are amazing. A total clutch hitter.

2. Yes he was magical with lightening speed.

When the Cubs traded him to the Cardinals in 1964 it became known as the worst trade in baseball history.

3. I came to St Louis in 99, I grew up in Western PA

I knew a hand full of Cardinal players including Lou Brock as a baseball fan looking at St Louis from the outside

What I quickly came to know was the love that the Redbird fans had for "their" players.

All Cardinals get some love, but some Cardinals get all the love.

Mr. Lou was one of the all the love guys. The upper reaches were Stan Musial, Red Schoendist, Bob Gibson and Lou.

Stan was 1st and there was a 3 way tie for second. Since i arrived I've come to know these and love guys and now I'm watching them leave.

5. I grew up a little north of St. Louis in the 50's.

Musial was of course my #1 hero but Brock and Gibson were a close second. Some of my fondest childhood memories took place at old Busch Stadium. I saw some of the greats including Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays but my heart always remained with all of those old Cardinals players.
