Why they call him 'Big Papi'.

He's the Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz. The greatest clutch hitter I've ever seen. The man who single handedly brought an end to The Curse of the Bambino (Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.).
I always wondered why he was called Big Papi. I just found out:

1. Used to hate him.

He always killed Cleveland, every damn time they met. Then I saw him in the home run derby one year. It wasn’t his hitting, it was watching him interact with the other players and especially their kids. He looked like the most fun person you’d ever want to be around, like a big kid himself. I could never root against him after that. So much joy.

2. He's a beloved figure in New England for a lot of reasons.
