A little baseball history in San Francisco tonight.

Alyssa Nakken, the first female coach in MLB, became the first female coach on the field of an MLB game when she came out to coach first base for the Giants in the bottom of the third inning. She had previously done this in some spring training games.

Congratulations, Alyssa.

3. Bummer, the event was kinda overshowded by coach Antoan Richardson's ejection

San Francisco Giants coach Antoan Richardson accuses Mike Shildt of yelling expletive that 'reeked undertones of racism'

ESPN

San Francisco Giants coach , whose ejection Tuesday led to Alyssa Nakken's historic coaching debut, has accused San Diego Padres coach Mike Shildt of yelling an expletive at him that "reeked undertones of racism."

Richardson, who is Black, provided a lengthy explanation for his third-inning ejection after San Francisco's 13-2 victory over San Diego. The Giants first-base coach said the incident started when Shildt, who is the Padres' third-base coach, approached San Francisco's dugout.

After a brief exchange between the coaches, Richardson said Shildt, who is white, yelled, "You need to control that motherf---er" to the Giants' dugout, which prompted Richardson's reaction and ultimately his ejection by umpire Greg Gibson.

"[Shildt] yelled, 'You need to control that motherf---er,'" Richardson told reporters. "At that point in time, I went to the top step and said, 'Excuse me?' because I couldn't believe what I heard. At that point in time, Gibson, the crew chief, decided to toss me from the game.

Nevertheless it was cool even if it was Tuesday home game orange uniform day (I'm not keen on that orange look)

4. I somewhat agree. It does speak to her professionalism that she

was able to step right in on short notice and handle the job. I also noticed that the announcers didn't dwell on the circumstances until the game was over. I thought that was courteous of them.

I somewhat agree about those uniforms, also. But Krukow said that jersey she was wearing will be going to the Baseball Hall of Fame to commemorate the event.

5. I heard Krukow mention the jersey was going to the Baseball Hall of Fame

But I suggest they include a note to explain why it's orange.

I really dislike the orange uniforms because it take me a couple of innings just to sort out who's who on the field, plus those fade away numbers are hard to read if you don't take your smart pills.

6. Well, the fact is,

they come out with special uniforms to sell more merchandise. I can't afford much of that stuff, but I know people who have to have anything new whenever they see it.

Plus, if you're superstitious, they are 9-1 when wearing those uniforms.

7. I just heard only the helmet is being shipped off to HOF on NPR

The orange helmet sans the 'white' Golden Gate Bridge

8. I notice the helmet also is missing the white pinstriping

that is on the player's helmets. I think I remember one of the announcers saying they had to kind of scramble to find her a helmet. Perhaps it was a brand new one that had not had the striping applied yet.

9. Another SF Giants Tuesday home game orange uniform day, and I noticed....

Antoan Richardson's helmet is missing the white bridge, just the SF logo on the front.

Here he is wearing the same helmet seconds before being ejected two weeks ago.
