New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar hit for the cycle on Monday night against the San Diego Padres. It is the second time during the season a player hit for the cycle, the first being Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Christian Yelich on May 11.

Escobar, 33, recorded a single, a double, a triple and a home run. Escobar recorded his fifth homer of the season during the eighth inning. The triple, which came in the ninth inning, gave the Mets a 9-5 lead.

Through 203 at bats this season, Escobar is slashing .241/.311/.725 with 24 RBIs. In the game against the Padres, the third baseman posted three runs on four hits and six RBIs.

The Mets defeated the Padres 11-5. New York (38-19) is first in the NL East. The Mets are back in action Tuesday against the Padres, with first pitch at 9:40 p.m. ET.
