Agressive Rufous hummingbird!

I have a feeder on my deck and had about 6 different birds coming daily. Now a Rufous has moved in and he chases the other birds away! There's enough room for 4 hummers at a time but he won't allow it. I feel bad for the other birds, but not much I can do...

the dominant bird will go to the one with the most sugar while leaving the other birds to feed at the lesser feeder. This from the curators at the sonora desert museum humming bird section.

I had not heard of this before, but it makes sense. I am sure it works. I used to have many hummers, and there were always the aggressive ones that would sit in a tree watching for any intruders. Wish I would have knows this little trick.

I saw one chase a yellowjacket right on his tail the other day...the yellowjacket flew off. They are feisty little suckers...

will be solved. Hummers tend to lay claim to feeders.
