I thought I had seen bluebirds (not jays) before, but that rust color on the breast
? And Im old.
Turns out they are in Canada to the Deep South , more on the eastern side of the country.
Freaky - I have not seen one since that day.

(23,826 posts)I'll separately post the Western one. Very similar and time of year and the light (early, late, high, low) can really alter the color perception. Not sure if I posted it before. They sure do have nice colors.

(2,922 posts)I left the kitchen door open for a minute while I stepped out, thinking the cat may want out. When I stepped back in there was a humming bird in the window above the sink. I was able to put my hand over it and pick it up. I removed some cobwebs and it flew out of my hand sooner than I would have released it, but it made it out the door.

(2,922 posts)1500' 4 miles from the coast. On a clear day the ocean can be seen through a low saddle in the coast ridge.
