The cam *does* switch back and forth to black and white film highlights of ''Tom and Audrey's'' previous nest, but there is also a cleared-off nest platform with an Osprey on it today:

On March 17, an osprey was spotted on the nest! Mrs. Crazy Osprey Man confirmed that this is Audrey. Stay tuned for further updates and Tom’s arrival.

This osprey cam features “Tom & Audrey” who nest each year at the home of “The Crazy Osprey Family” on Kent Island off Maryland’s Eastern Shore. 2022 is the 9th season that The Crazy Osprey Family has partnered with Chesapeake Conservancy, and our 4th with the addition of Explore.org. In 2018, Explore.org installed a new more sophisticated camera. The Crazy Osprey Family set up their first cam 16 years ago and used it as an educational resource for their daughter’s school.

3. This poor bird, Audrey, spent a restless night on that bare board platform.

Those perch-boards seem uncomfortable. I expected her to sleep in the trees.

4. Male Osprey has arrived and is perched on the nest platform, preening.

5. Audrey has been singing a long melodious trilling song this morning ...

... now breaking it off with shorter calling notes. She spends a lot of time waiting on the bare nesting platform, day and night. It seems that her mate Tom hasn't yet arrived.

6. Audrey has arrived with the very first branch and starts nest-building ...

She tucked it in, just so.

7. One of the landlord's gift branches tied with Ukrainian flag colors has made it to the nest ...

though there seems to be some uncertainty now about the Osprey identities. These two may have taken over the nest from Audrey.
