Been watching Jackie and Shadow for awhile now, and this pair doesn't seem as .... dunno, together? With it?

Watching right now trying to figure out what's on the baby's head, is it a tick? Don't the parents groom that sort of thing?

And the nest is a mess, tons of flies, lots of half-eaten fish. Jackie/Shadow would never tolerate this, lol.

This pair are first timers. They lost one of two and this one looked questionable the other day.

I'll have a look.

Finally got a closeup look, the thing on baby's head is just dirt.

It is frustrating watching (whoever) feeds..... I hope this baby is getting enough!!

I watched while it hatched, alone, and noticed it seemed to bond more to the geese in the neighborhooid, since mom/dad sat off to the side, poor baby, I hope it makes it.
