What is it?

Caught it on my patio, through 2 doors, and then s/he flew away, so couldn't get a better shot.

P.S. Saw redwing black birds, on utility wires along the street, but FOOLISHLY didn't stop for pics. Will try another day.

1. A Fledgling Cardinal, perhaps?

Looks kind of young, they don't go full red until later in life.

to me. A Phoebe? Mine are darker but there are lighter phoebes. Just guessing.

9. I checked out the properties of that photo

and it apparently comes from Audubon and is an Adler Flycatcher. I don't know if that is what you have, but it looks like it might be.

11. One of the 'bigger' flycatchers I think

It looks like there is some brown in the wing, and with those wing bars I'm guessing Ash Throated or Great Crested Flycatcher.

Do I remember right and you live in the Midwest? If so it's more likely the Great Crested as it lives basically from the center of the continent and East. The Ash Throated lives more in the Southwestern states. The GC has a bright yellow belly vs the AT has pale yellow.

the crest on the head made me think that, much more pronounced than on the others.

14. I'd call it a Great-crested Flycatcher also

Note the rufous on the wing.
