Heard a call this morning that I haven't heard in 35 years

BOB WHITE! - BOB WHITE! - BOB WHITE! We had several coveys of quail close to our farm. They were good sized. I remember the last that I saw. They were just about a dozen, a very small group. They crossed the road into a very large ranch never to be seen again.

I've always wondered what happened to our quail population. We have lots of doves; mourning, Inca and imported ring necks but no quail until this morning. This gives me hope for the world.

We have mourning doves here, too, but first I have heard the bobwhites in 3-4 years here.
Very clear loud calls yesterday.
