Birders
Related: About this forumI guess I'll leave my hummingbird feeder up a few days longer.
I hadn't seen any of the bitty birds since last Wednesday and planned to take it down today. This morning, however, just about daybreak, I had a tiny visitor and he has been back a few times since then. It appears to be a juvenile male, but I've not been able to get a close look yet. These little jewels are absolutely amazing.

(12,155 posts)We watched a youngster feeding on tiny little mint blooms yesterday evening.
We leave our feeders up until there are no takers.

(31,506 posts)They approached the feeders differently and didn't use the perches that have been used all summer long by the usual crowd. I keep my feeders up until I'm sure the migrants and stragglers have moved south.

(31,506 posts)My feeder is hanging from the framework of an awning so I can see it from my window while I work. We're having a little rain shower right now and I noticed a female hummer sitting on the perch right under the drip line of the awning. She was fluttering her wings and shaking her head and showed all the motions of enjoying a shower. After a few minutes, she moved away from the drip, shook herself all over and flew off without feeding. Nice and clean!
