Could I have seen an american kestrel in Connecticut in January?
If not,what would bird similar to the kestrel would it have been?

I if you see it land somewhere they do a little tail dip 3 times when they land..

(27,749 posts)6. Yesterday I saw a kestrel or a peregrine falcon flying overhead while I was driving home.
I live in the Virginia Piedmont. Judging by the range maps, it probably was the falcon.
