How the sides of the Doves necks fluff up and pearl out beautiful colors when they coo and call each other. Beautiful pink and green and blue and purple and all tones in between. Love how they walk...they stretch out their necks...and their body pulls to it. Great pictures.

I've got some shots of two ECD making love. Didn't mean to - bit of an accident. Shooting a pair and they decided to show out.

4. ECD are not very well liked by the other birds at the feeders. They come in such numbers

and run the smaller birds away.

They aren't mean - just greedy.

5. I think in rural areas like where the families feeder is,

a large population of hawks trim the feeders regularly bc they know where they are, and they can. The Doves seem to get carried away (literally) quite often.

When you see the shadows around the lawn....time to find something to do. Sad, but, part of all of it.

I get lots of doves at my feeder, lots of pairs of white wings, and some collared doves started coming a few years ago.

cooing happening out back. The flap a lot too.

The birds come in groups a lot of time...same birds together and a few stand outs.

we get tons of doves here on the far west side of the Houston area, mainly mourning doves and white wings.
Have you ever seen a dove fight? They're pretty funny!

13. I'm only a few hours away in Louisiana. Yes, I've seen them go after each other

It is funny. One time the "victim" was paying no mind to the attacker and kept walking along the grass until it suddenly turned and chased the other one.

The other doves - ECD - seemed to take umbrage and started mad cooing.

when they whap each other with their wings. I suppose I shouldn't laugh though!
It's also funny the way one dove will chase another one around the yard sometimes, running, not flying. Won't bother any others, but there's always one that seems to take umbrage with one of his mates and chases him until he flies away. Birds are fun creatures to watch, aren't they?

15. And in mating season when the male chases the female who flies away and the male goes after her

and she then flies back around. I laugh myself silly at them.

Inca doves are truly "love" birds. They'll eat with the other doves but if the larger doves start fighting, they scoot away.

I love the heart shape Inca doves make when a mating pair sit side by side.

Birds are amazing! I spend hours watching them...and taking photos. lol
