Birders
Related: About this forumI'm sitting at the table at my daughter's house watching a pair of robins build a nest
on the blade of the ceiling fan on her back porch. When she gets up she can decide whether or not she wants to nip it in the bud or give up use of the fan for a few weeks.
Do both birds build the nest or only the female? So far, I've only seen the female bringing material and it appears that the male is guarding territory.

(130,861 posts)but both of 'my' osprey adults work on their nest here, in southern MD. It's a large, well-established nest to which they've returned for more than the 6 years I've been here.
I caught her adjusting the 'furniture' a few days ago. Hard to believe there are eggs already, but there may be; she's 'sitting,' now.

(31,514 posts)to discourage momma bird before she gets any further along with nest building. Had there been eggs or baby birds, she would have left it, but this way momma bird has only lost a couple hours work. She's sure to find a suitable spot.
