Damn. That gives me the willies.

3. Yes, it is a king snake and it will eat eggs and babies.

The blue birds have moved on for the year but I will have to put a snake guard on it before spring.

4. King snakes might look scary , but they eat mice, rats

And they are harmless to us. They can be quite large, which is a bit intimidating. When I lived in the Texas Hill Country, I once found a shed skin of a king snake that was about 7-8 ft long

5. We have lots of them and I don't usually mess with them.

We had a 6 to 8 footer living in our chicken house.

7. A few, but usually went after the mice.

It tried to eat a pullet once, but it was too big for it and it spit it out. The pullet did not survive.
