I am not a serious birder. I have 5 bird feeders, 3 in front and 2 in the back yard.

I do have a question. One of the feeders is a whimsical British call box. My wife ordered it for me and it was described thus, " 16"H plus nylon hanging cord." Do you catch the deception? It is actually about 9 inches high. But that's not my question.

It is the only red feeder up and these little birds (sparrows, finches and chickadees) try to empty it as quickly as possible. I know that hummingbirds are attracted to red, are other birds as well?

It seems the Tardis has lost its color and chameleon circuit! Perhaps if it were painted blue the birds would not pay it so much attention

The Tardis is a police call box. Those were blue, and members of the public could use them to call the police before there was 911 (or in Britain, 999).

Maybe they're all just really hungry right now. I put seeds out every day on an old brown board that's about 4' off the ground and get a variety of wrens, sparrows and chickadees. This morning I had to brush a bit of snow off, then I sprinkled the usual amount. They were on it in no time and after about 20 minutes I saw they had eaten it all! That was a first. So I put more out and I guess they finally got their fill.

Being in lockdown for so long, it really brightens my day to watch and hear them every morning.

You can see some seed still. I also sprinkle it on the dark board behind. That's the top of a "greenhouse," the roof consists of old windows and lattice pieces which are all covered with snow right this minute. There's about 6 birds out there right now, hopping around.

lot easier (for me and the birds) to use/access. Thanks for such an elegant, yet simple solution. I've been looking for a while what to use being that the old feeders I had didn't do the trick (no birds). Take care!

We have a pet wild white tail for who has a love for bird seed. I give her a measured amount in a bowl. To much grain can founder any hoofed or animal. She is very spoiled our Dearie is.
