We get a few Herons in our pond from time to time. They are lovely.

adjacent to a creek which runs into major river (southern MD.)
This one (or a relative) perched closer to my house (by a few yards, @ bottom of this pic) and flew off a while ago; not sure if it's the same one or a family member.
