(13,351 posts)On the lawn of my old house. A hawk lived there in that tree. One of my friends got out of the car barefoot at night stepped in a dreadful squishy mess.. I thought she stepped on a slug. I got in,turned on the porch light..
Turns out she stepped into a dead mangled rabbit corpse on the sidewalk.. left there by the hawk. Every so often had to remove the hawks prey..from the lawn.
But it was funny after we got over the gross out.

I think its owls, although I have seen a hawk nearby for a couple of years. He pesters the little birds a lot.

(22,355 posts)What a beautiful girl.
We see lots of hawks in our area (redtails and others), but no ospreys. They stick to the coastal areas, and we're pretty far inland. *sigh*

When I lived in CA, I once saw a hawk dive down and grab a snake. It was still twisting around as they disappeared in the distance.

(2,687 posts)In a few of your last shots it looked like you were practically there with them. Did you use a bridge camera, or how long was the lens for the shot you took?
