(1,996 posts)other than mom. I feel sorry for her having to sit in the hot sun all day.
She is still a great mom.

(141,926 posts)and the sun's not concentrated there all day; the nest is on the east side of the river, west side of the creek.
There are trees across the creek (a few yards,) and the kids will practice flying back and forth; also trees on west side of creek closer to my house; they'll LEARN!

(22,881 posts)If you do a Google image search for "osprey nest," they all seem to be out in the open, completely exposed to the elements like this.
Uncomfortable as it looks to us, I think this is their "normal."

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
