1. Kids must be teenagers...

Avoiding mombrella's span.

getting HOT (tomorrow!) 88 here now; forecast hi 94 tomorrow.

Maybe kids will take advantage of mombrella! I sure hope so!

6. I wish there was some kind of shade

other than mom. I feel sorry for her having to sit in the hot sun all day.
She is still a great mom.

7. She's a great mother, and she doesn't sit all day; moves in and out/trades with Dad,

and the sun's not concentrated there all day; the nest is on the east side of the river, west side of the creek.

There are trees across the creek (a few yards,) and the kids will practice flying back and forth; also trees on west side of creek closer to my house; they'll LEARN!

9. I think the lack of shade is by choice.

If you do a Google image search for "osprey nest," they all seem to be out in the open, completely exposed to the elements like this.

Uncomfortable as it looks to us, I think this is their "normal."
