(5,075 posts)I consider it a good year if I see a Scarlet Tanager, Indigo Bunting and Rose-Breasted Grosbeak in the same year.

(18,219 posts)when I got all of those one the same day, all in the same tree. Only once. In fact, the only time I have ever seen an Indigo Bunting. It was just the right day, and just the right time, at High Island TX in the spring. Took my breath away.

(5,075 posts)You never know where or when something like that might happen. And you might be the only person in the world that knew it happened. It's a privilege to experience those moments.

I'm thinking of going down to southern Florida to get it myself. I've lived in Florida for seventeen years and I still haven't seen it. I do hate the traffic and rude drivers in the Miami area.
Also the White-cheeked Pintail that he needs is still around, but hard to see. I did get the White-cheeked Pintail when I first moved here. There was one at Merritt Island NWR in 1996. A selfish hunter then shot it on the first day of hunting season depriving many more birders the chance of seeing it.
