Birders
Related: About this forumGuess what! GOSLINGS!

They leave the nest when 1-2 days old, depending on weather, and can walk, swim, feed, and even dive. They have enough energy remaining in their yolk sac to survive 2 days before feeding.
Eggs hatch after 25 to 30 days of incubation. The young, called goslings, can walk, swim, and feed within 24 hours. Both parents (especially the gander) vigorously defend the goslings until they are able to fly, which is at about ten weeks. The young geese remain with their family group for about one year.

Just watched, for the first time "The Big Year"
Loved it.
Not a birder or I would have watched it 10 yrs ago, and I am a big Steve and Jack and Ownen fan so why didn't I watch it then?
Dunno, but it was fun.

and its great fun, learning about and watching nature!

(22,347 posts)3. Ah, the hatching has begun!
It kills me to admit it, but they're awfully darned cute!
I've never seen goslings this young. By the time I spot them, they're out swimming around with their parents and they're way bigger than this. Still cute, but not this cute!

Wish it were easier for me to see them 'jump,' but the perspective isn't good. Will see.

I'm so glad Osprey have been patient.
