Birdseed on her cap?
Presumably, a while ago, though who knows, snow in May? It's Canada, eh?
Photographer Anaïs Trépanier ventured into the wilds with the hopes of capturing memorable photos but instead ended up as the subject of one when a giant grey owl swooped down and perched on her camera.
Trépanier had ventured out on a photo expedition with fellow photographer Thomas Pham-Van and other photographer friends to the Côte-de-Beaupré area north of Quebec City, Canada. She says she spotted the giant grey owl sitting on a fence and while she stopped to take a few photos, it suddenly flew over to her position.
One of several neat photos:

(10,749 posts)The owl looks like shes wondering what the human is looking at. And her humans look is, damn, the other photographer is going to get a helluva photo.
Theres something more than a little a little amazing when wildlife join the photographer.

If I were there, I'd be looking around on the ground, hoping for a feather that might have dropped. What a keepsake that'd be!

(2,355 posts)That takes real strength to hold just the camera, imagine the extra weight of the bird landing on your arm, not to mention not knowing how that'll feel. The more I think about it the more I'm impressed.

(24,104 posts)I think she was a bit more worried about the talons. I'd be.
The owl has amazing feathers that make almost no noise.
Fabulous creatures.

(47,940 posts)I wonder if cameras attract them for some reason. Or maybe they do it all the time and there's more likelihood of another camera around when professionals go out to take pictures.

(33,511 posts)and listening for rodents. Maybe rodents are traveling in their tunnels as the photographers stomp around in the fields (?) One photographer mentioned the owl being an immature one. There are many more photos such as these

(113,196 posts)I have a very large Great Horned Owl that occupies a tree near my house and frankly I see enough rabbit, squirrel and rodent remains while walking my dog around the neighborhood before sunrise that I always give him a wide berth. Those talons can do some harm. But beautiful birds.
