I get one or two of them every spring. They fish my big pond that is right in front of the house. From your photo that is what I would guess it is. Caught itself a fish too!

Now studying up about them! 'Mine' is at the creek behind/east of my cottage, where I begin the day with sunrise.

See nest pic I got last weekend.

You will certainly enjoy watching these birds. I am always out trying to catch a great photo but usually end up just watching them. Beautiful birds. We get them for a short time as they migrate through. We do have Bald Eagles that stay through the year but they hang mostly at the river and the larger reservoir nearby. They hang here for a bit then move on.

Will work on technique to get them in flight. Fingers crossed!

That nest is great. I am not sure how the people who own the building feel about it, but I love it.

The 'building' is probably used for boating and fishing storage, attached to dock on/adjacent to property on which I live.

Dock and shed owned by my landlord, who has a garage and kitchen garden, and a larger home a bit further on. Its all one large property which, thank goodness for me, contains my 'cottage,' old home landlord lived in until he and his wife had triplets! Had been rented to others than me for 9 years.
