Pittsburgh Steelers legend Franco Harris passes ahead of Immaculate celebration

[link:https://butlerradio.com/pittsburgh-steelers-legend-franco-harris-passes-ahead-of-immaculate-celebration/|

Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris has died at the age of 72. His death comes just days before he is set to be honored on the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception at Three Rivers Stadium. The catch came in a Steelers playoff victory over the then Oakland Raiders.

FYI in case you didn't know, Franco was a staunch Democrat who actively campaigned for Democratic candidates.

Jags against Dallas
Raiders against Patriots

So long Franco. I remember Italians saying he was Italian with great pride.

Friday, if I remember correctly. They were promoting it all this week but it'll obviously be especially poignant with Franco's passing.

RIP

He was set to be inducted into Steelers "Hall of Honor" and have his number retired during the Steelers-Raiders game on Saturday. Glad the NFL scheduled the game to coincide with the anniversary. So bummed that he didn't make it
