San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin's office confirmed to NBC Bay Area that Pearsall was shot but is in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries. Additionally, the office also confirmed that the suspect was also shot with their own gun.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the suspect attempted to rob Pearsall, which led to a physical altercation. The suspect has been placed in custody, but no formal charges have been placed, per SFPD.
Both Pearsall and the suspect were transported to a nearby hospital for "further medical evaluation."

Story today in the San Francisco Chronicle says doctors are concerned over his multiple partial shoulder separations, and that there could be evidence of anterior shoulder instability -- laxity or tears in ligaments, tendons or muscle. Shanahan says Pearsall doesn't have this problem. If it is instability, surgery may be required.
Whatever the case, Pearsall's shoulder will have time to relax as the bullet wound heals.
