Bengals owner SHOULD be in a Chevy SB commercial.

Mike Brown, multi-millionaire Bengals owner, supposedly still drives an old Chevy Lumina.

Play "Like a Rock" in the background, leaving it up to the audience if it's referencing the car or the man.

He finally spent money in free agency over the last couple years, though.

EDIT: His daughter actually runs the organization now, according to various insiders.

They own a football team. Can’t lose money even if no one comes to a game. They know people WILL come to the game regardless of the product. Notably cheap but every few years they get lucky with some draft picks and they aaaallllmost win.

I’m rooting for Cincy. I was born just down the road from there.

... won't be such a cheapskate. It already appears that she's not that way, but time will tell.

Penny wise and pound foolish is probably a more accurate description of Mike Brown. He supposedly even skimped on towels in the Bengals locker room years ago, with players basically drying themselves with washcloths instead. So a high draft pick from the past bought full-size towels for the locker room.

He was there for a long (long, long) time and even through several seasons of Stephen A. Smith saying he'd been there too long {maybe he thought Lewis could win somewhere elae). He obviously is not winning here at ASU. Just wondering about all that as it relates or compares to the Micheal Flores suit.

... Marvin Lewis was hired, and only started getting some decent free agents within the last couple years after Zac Taylor was already their coach.

Father Paul Brown died in 1991, the same year that the Bengals last won a playoff game until this season, and then son Mike quickly cut their better veteran players.

Some teams "tank" for better draft position and more salary cap space in the future, but the Mike Brown plan seemed to be building a team entirely through the draft every year... then not retaining their better drafted players (such as OL Andrew Whitworth) because they're more expensive after being eligible for free agency.

If the Bengals let Burrow and Chase get away in a few years, which won't totally surprise me despite how daughter Katie seems to be running things now, then they'll still be fools.

Also, they spent more money than previously when Marvin Lewis was the coach. Such as hiring more than ONE scout for the team.

There's some who think Mike Brown's long-term plan was to keep gaining a bigger share of team ownership over the years (mission accomplished) because of what happened to his father with the Cleveland Browns... a team that got their name from Paul Brown in the first place. Paul supposedly warned Mike to never let control of the Bengals slip out of his hands.

EDIT: The Brown family went from 10% ownership of the Bengals to now owning 500 of 586 shares (85%) in the team, largely because of Mike Brown.
He acquired an additional 30% in 2011, for example:

The ownership has gone from millionaires to billionaires and they seem to be in their own worlds. I heard a different take on the Brown family this weekend and your post answered some questions I was thinking about.

On another noted, our Pac-12 channels never show the 1997 Rose Bowl, which I attended with family (we recorded it on VCR tape at home which I never watched) and then when I was visiting in-laws in Ohio, the Big-10 channel showed it like 3 times during our visit. Needless to say, I got my fill.

Thanks again - good luck Sunday!
