(15,147 posts)3. Duke Kahanammoku ----- 1937, my father was stationed in Hawaii. Duke K gave swimming tips and lesson
to military people he would meet on the beach. My father was one of the most graceful swimmers you would ever see in water. He was a part time, town lifeguard for ten years after the war. I recall watching him and saying to myself, I wish I could do that.
Funny thing, dancing or anything on land, he was awkward, In water, it was different.
