I'll be staying in the Campo di'Fiore area with a group part of the time. Looking for things to do and restaurants where I'll feel okay dining solo. It's going to be hot. True that we can drink the water from fountains? How about from the tap?

(5,808 posts)I love the contrast between ancient ruins and a modern city. Motorcycles parked next to thousands of years old building, things like that.

(109 posts)the Pantheon; the Vatican; and the Colosseum. No tour guides necessary for any of them, if you do a bit of homework first. The old Roman Forum is bliss if you are a Roman history buff, but that will require some pre-reading or a tour guide to fully make sense of it. I understand a lot of Roman sites are offering virtual reality headsets now to allow visitors to see the ruins in their original state -- that would be cool.

(947 posts)My wife and I first visited this restaurant in 1997. We manage to get a great meal here every time we return.
Il Giardino Di Albino, address: Via Zucchelli, 29, 00187 Rome, Italy It's about 3 or 4 blocks from Spanish Steps, on a quiet side street. Frequented by both locals and out-of-towners.
Hope this helps.
