Well, I booked my fall trip to Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania,

Poland, and the Czech Republic. If Russia invades one of the Baltic states, I'll have a ring side seat.

It's utterly chilling. They display the room where many, many freedom fighters were executed by the KGB, and it's eerie to know you're standing in the few square yards where so many people saw their last.

Also, don't miss the funky Uzupis district, a neighborhood of artists and fun street murals!

I loved hearing the trumpeter play the hourly symbolic last trumpet call (the legendary trumpeter of Krakow had his melody interrupted by an arrow shot through his throat)

Fun read ahead of time: "The Trumpeter of Krakow," a novel I read in middle school.
