What People Say:

Dec 27, 2019

I LOVE Franklin! And to be honest, I love the waiting part. My husband is a big sports fanatic, but I'm a big food fanatic. We both love tailgating and waiting in line at Franklin is basically... More on Yelp

Worth the three hour wait?....!$?% YES (TBH my wife did the heavy lifting waiting in line for 2 1/2 hours before I arrived). By the time we were at the register all that was left was Brisket and... More on Yelp

Is it good? Of course it is. BUT IS IT WORTH THE WAIT? Hate to say it but no. If you haven't been to any of the other top bbq places in Austin, this place will blow your socks off, however if you... More on Yelp

Here's a list from Yelp:

I disagree about Rudy's: they are everywhere, pricey and average. Sort of the Fudruckers of BBQ including the "artifacts" hanging everywhere.

I frequent Austin several times a year and like to sit down at a table when I eat and have great food at reasonable prices.

Seriously, their ribs are to die for but sell out first on weekend nights. Get there early and expect to wait 20-30 min in line. Not a 2-3 hour wait like at Franklins.

day for Franklin's, imho. Just because there are so many great bbq places. If you can get great flavor, smoke, and tenderness elsewhere why wait for hours?

Austin also has other great food. My favorite is a small plate, cool place in old house on quiet end of 6th. For dinner, it's $45 and all you can eat of a wide variety of extremely tasty and creative small plates. You order three each, then three more, then three more . Korean spicy ribs unbelievably good.

Tuesday and Wednesday you can probably get away with getting there an hour ahead of opening and get served. Thursday you need more time, Friday, Saturday and Sunday people are camped out in front at 6am or earlier. It’s that good.

You can also pre-order ahead of time to avoid the wait. But it’s a 5 pound minimum and a $75 deposit to do that. Check the website for details.

call me when you get here, I'll take you to a bunch BBQ and the best barbacoa on the planet over by Marble falls. If you want Franklyn quality and eperience with a much shorter line. BBQ try Coopers, in Lano or Opie's in Spicewood. You'll even get Austin hipsters.

If you're going to spend four hours waiting in line - drive out this way and see some pretty scenery like Willy Nelson's front gate. have some great BBQ - and get back to Austin in three hours round way.

Being mostly vegetarian, I haven't eaten there, but my friends used to rave about their BBQ.
