Anyone been to Scotland recently?

Going to Glasgow and Edinburg in October

My guy is half Scot. Small amount of fam left. We are going mainly to settle his father’s estate. He died just before Pandemic shutdowns. This is his first opportunity to go.

Meeting a cousin of his and another aunt driving up from England while we are there but I obviously would solicit great advice and destination info from trusted DU family. Ten day trip but 3 ish days in each.

2. Great rail system in Scotland.

You can see if you can't get a deal on Brit-Rail. I think you can go online or use a travel agent.

Eat the native food, esp. Haggis. Nothing to be afraid of. Scotch eggs! And buy yourself some decent Scotch while you're there.

3. Go out to Skye.

Take the train out to Mallig and the the ferry over to Portree. Probably need to get a car to do the island. You can drive back onto the mainland through Kyle of Locash and the head across to Inverness.

Sounds like a lot of driving around but nothing is really too far from anything.

…drive the NE coast up around to Inverness and then drive down along Loch Ness through to Ft William and below. Look for Nessie and stop in my favorite town name to say…Drumnadrochit. Make sure ya roll those Rs.
