1. Just another way to get a euros out of every traveller.

They already know the info about you (way more) than you are told to provide.

It does give them a “pseudo checkpoint” where they can deny you entry “before” you get to the border, but I believe any country can deny entry for secret reasons anyway.

But in the end This is just an another tax on the little guy.
