Seriously? I've walked by myself in San Jose and it's no different than Newark, Rochester, etc etc.
Just be street smart and don't flash your cash. The Costa Ricans aren't really impressed by that anyways.

(57,484 posts)2. There's been one reported incident in my area in the last 4 months.
It happened to an older single woman driving the 'shortcut' around Tilaran. She claimed a couple of guys on motorcycles attempted to get her to stop. She didn't.

be issued if there is a true threat. It's kind of like crying wolf. The warnings will be ignored.
And Costa Rica? When I traveled there I felt safe, never even thought of any threats.
