Remembering the Golden Age of Airline Food

Ah, yearning for a good meal while flying.

I always bring my own snacks and a bottle of water when flying. But on those long overseas flights, I must admit, I do eat the (ahem) wonderful airline food.

We have a plentiful menu. Do you want 10 peanuts or 6 pretzels? Norrrm 10 min ago #2

My oh my was the food nasty. I was hungry and adventurous so I tried the chicken wrap, it was NASTY! I actually spit it out in my napkins and reached for a protein bar in my purse.

Even the snacks were bad! I would have killed for a peanut butter sandwich!

Would have set you back about $550 in 1962 dollars.
That's about six grand in today's money.

First class on the same flight would be around $800 (almost $9K today)

With those kind of margins, the airlines could afford to toss a little prime rib your way
