The creation museum needed 21 "yes" votes to become a council member. They lost by only two votes.
The museum presents a biblical account of creation through its exhibits and education programs.
Danielle Susalla Deery is president of the San Diego Museum Council. She said the museum's membership was not rejected because of its mission but because of other factors.

(4,243 posts)Since it's neither a museum nor educational. Perhaps they should apply with the council of nutbags.

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me. The city itself is pretty right wing in parts (chalk it up to the military presence there), but the more remote cities and towns in San Diego County are home to some the most batshit crazy people I have ever laid eyes on. Evangelicals, white supremacists, you name it.
To put it bluntly, I'm not so much happy the museum was denied membership as I am relieved.

The fact that they applied for membership indicates that it's important to them.

(146,218 posts)I think the Board that made this decision are strictly applying their own rules and may not have any choice but to accept them if they meet the current criteria.
Perhaps they need to take a closer look at their criteria.
