Josh Duggar and the Purity Lie

http://religiondispatches.org/josh-duggar-and-the-purity-lie/

BY SARAH POSNER MAY 21, 2015

Josh Duggar, the oldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, stars of “reality” TV and the real life conservative movement, has resigned his position as executive director of FRC Action, the political action arm of the Family Research Council, after In Touch magazine reported that he sexually abused young girls, including, apparently, his sisters, as a teenager.

In a statement to People magazine, Duggar, now 27, said:

Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. . . . I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.

Ruining his life.

According to the police report, Jim Bob and Michelle, paragons of parenting, hid Josh’s crimes from the police and the public. In Touch reports, based on the police report it obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request, that:

Josh Duggar was investigated for multiple sex offenses — including forcible fondling — against five minors. Some of the alleged offenses investigated were felonies. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were interview [sic] by the Springdale Police department on Dec. 12, 2006. The report says that James told police he was alerted in March, 2002 by a female minor that Josh — who turned 14-years-old that month — had been touching her breasts and genitals while she slept. This allegedly happened on multiple occasions. In 2006, Jim Bob told police that in July, 2002 Josh admitted to fondling a minor’s breasts while she slept. “James said that they disciplined (redacted, Josh) after this incident.” The family did not alert authorities.

1. Family Research Coucil's Tony Perkins joined Pope Francis and others in Rome in November...

"This week the Vatican hosted a three-day, international, interreligious colloquium called Humanum, “The Complementarity of Man and Woman: An International Colloquium.” Its goal was to “propose anew the beauty of the relationship between the man and the woman.” Speakers came from nearly two dozen countries and a variety of religious traditions, including Muslims, Jews, Sikhs and Taoists.

The presence of American evangelicals and the LDS Church was particularly notable. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church, and Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, each gave speeches, and representatives from the Heritage Foundation and the Family Research Council in Washington attended.

Adds Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council: “The atmosphere was almost euphoric as the attendees from six of the world’s seven continents broke from the historic gathering to return to their respective nations renewed in their stand for marriage,” he says. “The courts may declare otherwise, and Hollywood may depict its demise, but the union of a man and a woman as the natural and enduring definition of marriage will endure until the end."

But LGBTQ community is not a danger to children or anyone. We are just people who want to live our lives and be ourselves He on the other hand.....IS A DANGER TO CHILDREN!!!

He should be in Jail, as well as all the people who aided and abetted him!!! Including his parents, and the members of the church who hid this. They are all the REAL danger to children.

not presenting a danger and this guy presenting a clear danger.

Everyone involved should be charged, tried and punished for their actions, lack of actions or complicity.

I just find it so galling that he was calling every LGBTQ person a danger when he was the true monster.

How can someone stand up and say someone loving a person of the same sex are a danger to children knowing full well that he raped his own sisters? The monumental hypocrisy is too much to bare...

5. It's all part of their denial of their own impulses.

In his case, he needed to identify a group that he could then define as more dangerous than he was.

It is the true definition of projection (as opposed to the lazy and uninformed use of the word we sometimes see).

It seems to happen over and over and over again.

The loudness of their hateful screaming should be a dead giveaway, but we overlook it repeatedly even when it's in our own backyard.

I know that first hand.

He could only run from the truth for so long. Now at last it has been revealed to the entire world. If only it had happened sooner maybe his victims could have gotten some actual justice...

7. Not only justice, but maybe they could have gotten some help.

The most tragic part of this it that the victims got swept under the rug because they wanted to sweep him under the rug.

These people have no right to be parents.
