As it stands, they would be better shielded from criticism if they converted to Islam.

Same goes with "criticizing" Jews. I am a 'believer' that religions are nothing more than philosophies, like democracy, communism, Zionism, and the list goes on...and all of them are worthy of criticism. When the attacks turn to the adherents, then it wanders into the bigotry zone.
