"It's not about religion."
Well, no, probably not in YOUR religion because of course YOU have the perfect understanding of what your religion is really about, and everyone else who claims to follow it is just wrong.

I am thankful many Muslims reject those verses and teachings found in Islam. Many don't, including the murderer in Orlando. I am thankful many Christians reject the similar verses and teachings found in Christianity. But many don't, including those who have praised the murderer in social media.
It does no good to just proclaim that religion wasn't a factor in events like this. It was, and we have to find a way to counter it other than just proclaiming that "it's not about religion."
