For me, the unanswerable question of theology has always been if a creative god is omniscient, omnipotent, gracious and good then why is there evil? When this god created this world (and the universe), why was evil introduced?

When Lucifer tempted Jesus thrice in the desert, in the last test he offered Jesus to become king of the world if he switched sides and joined Lucifer.
How could Lucifer even credibly make that offer if God is the supreme ruler of the world???

I suspect, there is a hidden meaning:
God represents the etheral, spiritual, divine side of the world. Belief.
Lucifer represents the materialistic, harsh, factual side of the world. Doubt.
When Lucifer offered Jesus to rule the world, he essentially offered Jesus materialism.

So, God and Lucifer are not "good" and "evil". They are the "correct" world-view and the "incorrect" world-view.

The Bible makes many references to god being good, whichever part of the trinity is addressed. Here's a link to a Christian website; see number 5:

Evilness is directly related to Satan:

It's all illogical and contradictory but there's attempt at making sense, I guess.

The name Lucifer is nowhere to be found... It seems like the translators just mixed the Old Testament Satan with the New Testament Lucifer.

This is from Wikipedia:

Later Christian tradition came to use the Latin word for "morning star", lucifer, as a proper name ("Lucifer&quot for the devil; as he was before his fall. As a result, "'Lucifer' has become a by-word for Satan / the Devil in the church and in popular literature...

This was what I was taught many years ago in Sunday School and Confirmation Studies. I've heard many ministers use the variations interchangeably.

Not that I care anymore!
